Vanderjagt ties consecutive field goal record HOUSTON (AP) -- Mike Vanderjagt set the NFL record for consecutive field goals with 41 when his 43-yarder gave the Indianapolis Colts the AFC South championship and a 20-17 victory at Houston. His winning kick as time expired surpassed the mark of Gary Anderson. Vanderjagt tied the record with a 39-yarder early in the second quarter. The record dates back to last season for Vanderjagt, who is 37-for-37 this year. Anderson made 40 straight from 1997-98 with San Francisco and Minnesota. Vanderjagt set a franchise record with his 37th field goal of the season, beating Cary Blanchard's 36 in 1996.
I'll bet the "idiot kickers" is even more liquored up after his streak ended last night versus the Patriots. Ugh... Tough loss for the Colts. Then again, he shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. Turnovers and that sack on the last play really put them (and him) in a bad spot.
I think Manning once again showed that he makes way too many mistakes in crucial situations. It's beyond me how he could get sacked from his right side, HUGE mistake, Infact, this could cost them the season. Now if they are tied with the Pats, they will not have the homefield advantage.
Their schedule isn't getting any easier, either. They go to Tennessee next week and their home opener is against Green Bay in two weeks.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Eagles4Life)</div><div class='quotemain'>Infact, this could cost them the season.</div> Oh puhhhleeeaaasssseee...this is not going to cost them the season. Its the first game of the season...sure, at the end of the season they will probably look back and say that they wish they had won this one, but you cannot tell at this point how well either team is going to do based off of that one game.
In his defense, he did say "could" cost them the season "if" they end up tied with the Patriots in the playoffs. The AFC is tough enough. They're going to want this tiebreaker. But you're right, it's too early to tell. For all we know, Indy could go 15-1.
Man. If game one costs anyone the season, why play anymore? There are 31 teams without a loss. How about we call it a tie and end it now?
