Benitez should of sold Gerrard in his first season if he knew that Gerrard would not comply to playing right midfield indefintely as the new rufete of Anfield, I think that there was a communcation problem last season, Gerrard thinking playing right mid was a stop gap until we got a right midfielder in and Benitez cunningly just shepherding Gerrard in that position. I think both parties should of being open and honest about their intentions in the first instance 3 years ago,gerrards persistance to play centre midfield and Benitez looking for a rufete. I do admire Benitez approach to football but in the instance I think he allowed emotion to cloud his judgement and he should of sold Gerrard three years ago and buy a player in the mould of rufete in which he was looking for. I think that Gerrard will be sold, probably to a top Spanish team or Chelsea.
Would Gerrard even get a place in the Chelsea team? I mean Makelele, Essien, Ballack, Robben, Cole, Lampard... I just can't see him fitting into a regular slot for Chelsea with those players around. Hopfully he does join us though.
Maybe he could replace Makelele who looks to be finishing soon but Liverpool would only then have Carragher to rely on if Gerrard goes but they will also get 30+million for him.
I think Benitez is stupid for leaving Gerrard in the right. I mean, u are playing not onli ur captain but when he plays in that centre position he is one of the best in the world in THAT position and just let things build around him, if you play him in the wrong position then he is not as effective and he will not be in the heart of the attacks when it happens cuz of his wrong positioning. If Benitez wants to solve the right midfield problem then just go BUY a right sided midfielder. I think Gerrard shouldn't go, I think BENITEZ should go
Rafa would be a fool to get rid of Gerrard, he's already a fool for not playing him where he should be played, Gerrard is one of the best midfielders in the world and it seems like Rafa just doesn't know how to use him any more. The problem with him going to Chelsea is that they would have to chose between playing Lampard or Gerrard (if Lampard is still there next season) cause they cant play together, I mean just look at how they play for England IMO I would stick with Lampard if I were Chelsea.
Gerrard won't be as inspirational playing in the right as he was in the centre. Benitez just needs to use to heart sometimes instead of his head where sometimes it could go wrong.
