We have a good chance in 2004 if we don't trade too many players.
Big decision is the running backs, we have 3 great ones: Williams, Bennett, O. Smith
----------- I say trade Bennett because he can't stay healthy. Although R. Smith gave us the same troubles a few years back.

Culpepper needs to adapt as a quarterback. Possibly exploiting the fact that he can be a threat as a running q-back. Also checking more than two possible recievers when he has time in the pocket.

Coaching: Defense, Defense, Defense! Although they stepped up for many of the games this season, they also looked like a high school team for some games.

Offense: Need to develop more plays to confuse the opposing defense.
Developing a no huddle west coast style offense for end of game
situations would also help a lot.

    Special Teams needs help everywhere.

The StarTrib reported that McGinnis might become the Vikings new defensive coordinator. I think that would be huge being that we are losing O'Leary who has done a great job with the defense.

    On to 2004 requirements:

Get a better right guard. Solidify the O Line...it has the makings of being a great line, but needs one more player.

Upgrade secondary. Brian Russell, Brian Williams, and Cory Chavous should all stay. Funny thing...the two free agents that were big signings (Walker and Irvin) should be traded.

Lose one back. I agree that Bennett is the best candidate to be traded. He is definitely a home run threat, but he doesn't have the vision that Onterrio Smith has or Moe Williams. He does have the injury problems and seems to fall down if someone unties his shoe laces.

I think with our receivers we are set. Burleson should work with Moss in the offseason. He is a very good receiver, just needs some time.

All in all it was a good season with a huge letdown. I'm going to go bury a deep hole now and hibernate for the winter and summer months.

You guys can send Bennett or Williams over our way. We really need a big time back. What do you want for either guy?

    We need a secondary!!!

Anything to control the short pass would be great.

Ill broker a deal between the you guys and the Patriots if you want me too....how about Micheal Bennet to NE for thier (2) 2nd round draft picks???? I guarantee if you call Belichek he will do that! By the way, you are nuts if you trade Michael Bennett.

Predictions for '04... wow that's a hard topic! I guess it depends on how much $$ Red decides to spend. Well, the vikes should get a decent pick in the draft. Tice seems better than Green in this department, as Williams is turning out to be a STUD.

Defense: There are some good shut down corners available, would be nice to land one of them. Also I think we need a defensive end. Linebackers are young, but they should be ok. Secondary is much better than last year and should continue to improve.

Offense: I predict the same old stuff. Culpepper running hot and cold, Moss pouting when the vikes get behind early, inconsistansy, penaltys, ect. Nothing will change unless there is a new coaching philosophy.

Coaching: Coaching should change, it's embarrassing. Vikes lose to all four teams that have the worst record, yet they win against some very good teams. They have penalties. Their game plans are lousy. They started 6-0 then went 3-7. Tice will get anothershot at it, and I guess he should, but he should also be on a very very short leash. I blame the coaches for this years embarrassment... I wonder who will be to blame for next years?

How about we give you Dewayne Washington back and you give us Moe Williams? You need secondary and we need a running back. I think that seems fair.
