How many goals do you see scored when a penalty is saved by the goalkeeper only for the player who just took the penalty to roll the ball into the empty net. This rule hasnt always been the case, and as if saving penalties was hard enough now keepers somehow have to push the ball out of play.

It is a ridiculous idea that the taker can have next contact with the ball if a keeper makes a save or if he cannons it off the woodwork.

A couple of seasons ago in my league my team had a penalty and the taker hit the post then rebounded it in, only for it to be dissallowed as the referee said the same player cannot shoot if the ball comes off the woodwork.

What is the actual rule? Can the same player score if hit hits the woodwork or if the keeper saves it or both? i dont know.

well, in the premiership it seems you CAN score the rebound. Claude Makelele's first goal was a penalty where he got it saved and pushed back to him. thats when he rebounded it and it counted.

i think the proper rulez state that if the penalty is saved the penalty taker cant shoot unless it has come off another player other than the keeper...
    am i right?? :pff:

    No, your wrong.

It's just like freekicks, you cannot touch the ball twice before another player has touched it.

So if the ball rebounds from the bar and you get another touch it'll be disqualified.

However if the goalkeeper saves the ball and you get another touch and score from that it'll count and be allowed.

oh ok. That makes it a shitload harder for the penalty taker then if he misses....
im not sure whether im for it or against it...:pff:

No, it makes it easier for the goalkeeper.

Why do you think it makes it harder?
