Curbishley Facts: Begins managerial career at Charlton in 1991 Addicks are promoted in 1998, relegated the following season but return to the Premiership in 2000 Charlton post their highest-ever finish of seventh in 2004 Following his failure to get the England manager's job, Curbishley leaves The Valley at the end of the 2005/6 season Honestly people bar keeping Charlton up which other managers have done with worse clubs (Fulham a prime example) his best finish was 7th?? and people say hes a great manager, i actually think Pardew has a better track record in a shorter time! Curbishley is overated and will struggle outside the comfort of Charlton. West Ham to go down im afraid!
I think he is a good manager because he got Charlton into the Premiership and kept them there (second time round, but still). He made them into a decent team who were quite hard to beat most of the time. He kept them in the decent position in the Premiership. Without him ... well, look what has happened to Charlton now. Also, he didn't have the biggest budget in football, but he still got some quality players.
