It was reported in todays papers that UEFA are considering lodging action against Chelsea. It has been clamed that the clubs massive spending spree goes against the EU competition rules. If the complaint is upheld then it could result in Chelsea's spending being restricted to just what the club make in profits. I was wondering what your views were on this issue? Should Chelsea's spending be restricted? Does their spending go against the idea of "fair competition"? Or does their spending force other clubs to improve their performances and improve the overall quality of the league?

Of course, what will it mean for clubs like ManU who can never make a profit until the debt is paid off and Arsenal too. It comes just as Liverpool are maybe getting more in than profits so it works for me.
I'd actually prefer it if they didn't have all this spending power. I prefered it back in the day when Chelsea were battling for Champions League spots, finishing 4th, 5th and 6th. It gave me a feeling that i just don't get no more, Chelsea aren't the team causing upsets anymore, they are the team being upset by smaller teams, which is what i miss i suppose. I do understand where the other fans and clubs are coming from. If it was another team who had all this spending power, I would be feeling pretty pissed off as well. It does ruin the league in the way that other teams can't compete with them sort of signings, but ... i think that other teams may need to up their game if this ban isn't imposed so it provides a more exciting performance week in, week out.
if they limited the spending then the premiership wouldn't have as many great players and wouldn't be as exciting.
it would be fairer for teams and managers such as bolton (big sam gets about a quid to spend and still does well) and portsmouth (redknapp buys old players but they sure play well for him e.g. campbell, kanu and james)
