Who are the best English coaches, and why aren't they coaching the English national team? [IMG]

well you cant compare a league coach to a national coach.
national coaches have a smaller time span to improve the team, unlike league coaches.
its a different type of coaching.
some coaches feel like class coaching is club coaching.
    others think otherwise.
i personnaly love national teams more than clubs. but sadly football is getting better through club football.
national teams are not getting enough credit, its more fun to watch national teams play against each other.

I disagree that league managers have more time. Your average national team manager in a normal situation has months if not a year to play friendlies and look at players whereas a new league manager comes into a team with 3 or 4 months before bad results get the press and fans calling for his head.

I'd say that managing a NT is like managing a big club where keeping egos happy is a larger part of the job description but thats its really just opinion so I'm not saying you're right or wrong.

To answer the original question I'd put my neck out there and say Sam Allardyce deserves a mention for his man management and implimentation of new techniques in training. I've always gotten the impression that there are doubts about him managing established "world class" players though. Whether he works better with the underdogs as opposed to stars.

yeah i understand what your trying to say.
but club teams get to keep the players for a longer span making them train thier way during a year.
not forgetting that club teams play in the CL too and other leagues and cups in conclusion the NT dont get to train more together on a regular base thats why i said that league coaches get a longer time span.

I think the limited amount of match time you're refering to is offset by the sheer amount of patience that many national teams show with their managers.

Sure a league manager can train players every day for 6 months and go through European competitions but he has to survive long enough and if they suffer two or three losses too quickly the pressure is on them.

-I'm havig a hard time thinking of many really outstanding English managers who I'd want if I supported England regularly. There are some good managers but it's hard not to look towards a foreigner if, for whatever reason, McClaren was to go.
