Will united regret not signing mascherano? I know he has not set the world on fire at west ham but to be fair to the guy- he has had very few opportunities to show what he can do.

But does anyone actually doubt that he and tevez are world class?? You dont play that well in a world cup- with out being a top player.

I just feel he has more to offer than owen hargreaves, hes younger, technically the better player, and by the sounds of things will be a lot cheaper!!

This extra money could have been used to sign another winger or striker.

I dont doubt owen hargreaves will be a success at united- but the money we are going to pay- i feel mascherano could do the same job if not better and probably for ?10m cheaper!!

    What do you guys think??

I think Hargreaves is a much better choice due to his energy and effort and he's very good technically (better then guys like Lampard and Carrick in my view) plus he will always give 100% where as every game i've see Mascherano he doesn't always look interested it's not that he's lazy but it seems to me that he would rather just get the ball a pass it and not do much where as with Hargreaves, you have a guy that will go looking for the ball and try and win it for your team which i think it is a much better attribute for a Premiership player to have

Manchester United would never have got a look in with Javier Mascherano. His rights were owned by a company run by Kia Joorbichan, Media Sports Investment, who owns Corinthians and was was thought to have pretty much bought West Ham at the time. Add to this that Joorbichan is a known associate of Roman Abramovich and the other Russian Oligarchs, it just would never have happened.

Same goes for Tevez, even though he's a slightly less good version of Rooney.

Yeah I think United dont need him cause they have Hargreaves but I think that Mascherano is better than Hargreaves.

why would united want him. They already havea dilemma with 2 identical players in Carrick and Hargreaves.

Carrick Hargreaves and Scholes.. why would we want a lazy player who cant be arsed putting in 100% for a team? We want Loyal players at United, not players who join clubs for a backdoor into England.

Hargreaves is better than Mascherano. Hargreaves is better technically because of his passing and technique. He could swing in free kicks aswell. He has plenty of stamina and he always works hard. We don't need Mascherano
