[*]Van Nistelrooy-30 year old Dutch striker went to Madrid for 10m [*]D'Alessandro-25 year old Argintine midfielder loaned out [*]Van Buyten-28 year old Belgium centre back moved for 7 mill [*]Ashley Cole-26 year old English left back to Chelski 5mil + Gallas-Arsenal would rather sell Cole to Newcastle that Chelski and Coles wife's father supports the Toon so could have been interested to stay in his good books. [/list]Thats 10+ players already and many others havnt been mentioned. All of the players above would have improved our team. Admittedly most of the players would have gone to their respective clubs they are at now but moving for these players would have shown great ambition whether they signed or not doesnt matter the fact we tried is good enough for me. Im sure people who look at this article will say we didnt have the money to go for these players and are they needed for example 17mill Joaquin - we have Milner who is doing great and 17mill is to much fair enough but Diego for 4mill that is a bargin he has so much talent and really cheap compared to prices these days. What i am trying to get at is that we arnt signing quality players when we have the chance-signing Kompany now would probably cost 15mill-3 times the amount we could have got him for last summer.
I guess the manager knows you won't get the players and didn't bother wasting his time trying. Out of all the players on the list i think the only one you would have had a genuine chance of getting was Campbell
Maybve if Roeder diden't waste his time buying players that haven't done nothing for newcastle, and focus on euro superstars like Diego, then maybe you could have mounted a prem title challegne, but this summer try better.
