I am currently in Madrid at the moment with the transfer window also creating huge speculation over who Real will sign and who will go over the next ten days. I was speaking with a die hard fan over the weekend in a Spanish bar and he was almost certain that, with Capello refusing to play the England winger again, Beckham would move to Chelsea on loan for the rest of the season. Expressing that the deal would have to happen in the next ten days and there had been, so far, no speculation that Beckham is going anywhere, he assured me that it was pratically a done deal. Meanwhile, there is deep underlying rest here in Madrid over squad selection and signings by the Italian Capello which was demonstrated last thursday when the team were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Real Betis. The former Roma manager picked just four first team regulars despite having Beckham just sitting in the stands. It is said here that if Capello does not win La Liga or the Champions League then he will be sacked by fan power if not by anything else. Fans wondering who Madrid might sign themselves have been up to now dissapointed. The club have made it clear that they will not sign anyone in the January window, leaving the Madird faithful to rely on youngsters. This has left the fans seriously annoyed as only 18 months ago, the were watching the likes of Figo, Zidane and Beckham all featuring in the same midfield, whereas now they are looking at their youth come player De La Red come through who has yet to make an impact at the Bernabau.
Blimey, you could be talking about Chelsea. Lots of speculation about Mourinho and Capello swapping jobs in the summer. Seems it woould be a case of out of the pan, into the fire for both of them. As for the Beckham loan, cannot see it myself, not unless he's suddenly become a decent centre half.
