Before you start using me for target practice, hear me out...

I was firmly opposed to the takeover. Not in the sense that I was going to lob bricks at people, or rush off and form another club. But it was a proposal which led to feelings of trepidation for all the obvious reasons.

However, when I try and impartially analyse the way the club is at the moment, I can't help wondering if it was a lot of fuss over a little. In fact, Ferguson is getting support and funds in the transfer market - far more than Tightwad Martin Edwards ever coughed up. As Ferguson himself once put it "conversations with Martin were always very pleasant until it came to releasing funds for needed players - he was always extremely guarded around money".

The Glazer's haven't taken their dividend, or so we read (probably a token gesture). But they have seriously increased profitability (the current sponsorship deal is reportedly worth TWICE as much as the Vodaphone one!!!)

But another advantage over not having a PLC is this:- if a club like Real, Barca or Chelsea offer us ?50m for Ronaldo, we can just dismiss it without having to run its viability past a bunch of shareholders and moneymen.

Obviously, there would still be concerns about a mogul ripping everyone off, hiking up gate prices, and using simply the club as a cash cow. But I wonder whether that wouldn't be the case anyway, regardless of what fiscal structure you have at a club...the way football is going now.

I don't think the whole "dragging the club into debt" thing is as much of an issue as people make out...

I guess my overall point it this. Football Club. Money. Business. Blah.

We have a great manager, a great youth structure, great players, and we are at the top challenging...

    Business as usual...!

All the knee jerk reactions from Utd and other fans was all over the top.... he is running a business and Utd was for sale at a price, he paid that asking price.... He knows what he is doing. A friend of mine was the advisor to the Irish duo and represented him them on Utd's board. My Friend is red through and through and would not have have accepted the sale to the Glazers if it was in any way detrimental...

in fact he was weighing up the idea to buy Utd himself.....

He understands big business sports and ... UTD have nothing to worry about ....PS I am a Chelsea fan and I live near Tampa nothing to worry about at all.
