All my life I have followed football (Soccer), with the commitment and dedication of a true fan. Whether it?s playing football with friends, or watching it on TV I?m watching. Last year I was introduced to a new version of football, a sport in which the ball is not round and hardly touches the foot (American Football).

In the country where I temporarily reside (America), all the attention is directed towards this football while soccer is totally ignored. I would not be a true sports fan if I neglected this sport that?s captured this population. I?m currently in Chicago and having watched American football for the first time I?m not impressed.

Now that the Super Bowl is reaching fever pitch and is ridiculously over hyped, from an observers point of view please accept the following points why Soccer is better than American football.

Soccer is a sport played all over the world, even in America therefore more popular. As much as we like to mock the average American for his ?ignorance?, their athletic entertainment requires less brain power than ours and is a pathetic excuse to grope each other.

    Let the debate begin.

American Football is far too stop/starty for my liking. Football is a fast flowing end to end game at times where anything can happen at any stage, thats what makes it the world No.1 sport.

i like both, yes it is Stop/start but sometimes (quite often) you get the amazing pass or the long run in which your favorite team can get the Touchdown.

Football is a constant buzz though, the fact that in a split second anything can happen. I also hate the way american footballers are padded up so much, look at rugby, a proper mans sport with maximum contact.

haha thats a joke. World Football kicks gridirons ass anyday. 3/4 of the world will tell u that. American football is probably the pussiest sport in the world.
They wear hardcore padding and massive helmets, where as in AFL and rubgy, they dont wear any padding whatsoever. Much more manly.
Its just those damn americans with their own damn sports. They need to catch up with the rest of the world and start playing world football.

THAT IS MY 300TH OFFICIAL DYC POST!!! [IMG]
