According to Sky, Rafa is jealous that Real Madrid have more souvenir shops in the world than Liverpool, and he hopes to follow their model. If my manager stated that he wants to follow in the footsteps of one of the most dysfunctional clubs in European history, I'd have him sacked before sundown! Enjoy your years of underachieving
I am really suprised that Liverpool are not well known outside of the UK. You would think that with all the European Cups they have won, they would be able to sell shirts in New York or even Spain for that matter.
sounds a whole lot better than talking about being kicked out of two cups by a bunch of foreign kids, being in 3rd place and askin how many you will concede to Barca.
Not as extreme as Don Revie. When he arrived at Elland Road he said that he wanted Leeds to play like RMadrid and he promply changed their kit from blue and yellow (hence the nickname: the Peacocks) to the now familiar all-white. As far as I know, Liverpool are going to stick with all-red.
If Liverpool wants to be like RM, so be it, done, you are now the second coming of RM. Now, how about playing some football, or is that the second thing you want to try?

Haha! if i was you i would be more worried about your chairman wanting to be like the MK Dons! enjoy years of playing in Knowsley
I shouldn't really reply to an Evertonian trying to have a go when all they wish for in life was to be born on the Red side but hey we all have our sins. But if you actually listened and was clever enough to understand what he meant rather than just picking up on the bits you want to hear , you would realise he was on about the commercial side of the game. As for Liverpool not being well known abroad that is totally wrong we are 1 of the most famous teams in the world but haven't really exploited the market like Real and Man Ure. We are just famous for our football and unlike some teams i won't mention, we won't just become a brand and have the words football club removed from our shirts.
I thought the title should be something along the lines of... "Rafa wants Liverpool to be like Spain" it seems most of your squad are SPANISH (im not sure if its true )
I doubt Liverpool will be like Real Madrid for the simple fact that more people around the world (neutral wise) like Real Madrid... EDIT: NOT THAT THEY HATE LIVERPOOL JUST MADRID ARE MORE POPULAR.
There no comparison. But Madrid dont play the best Football in my opinion. Best team ever assembled by Madrid IMO was, Zidane,Roberto Carlos,Beckham,Figo,Ronaldo,Raul...that was a nice line-up. Also madrid is known more worldwide, not just in Europe but in America as well.

I mean hats off to Madrid and Man United for their foresite in seeing the market out there. Liverpool have been far too slow in marketing their "product". Go to Spain for example and Liverpool are everyones 2nd team but as per usual we aren't over there opening shops because whoever is in charge of that side of the business isn't sharp enough. Liverpool and United have stolen a march on the Asian side of things and are more famous than Madrid over there.

hummmm if i rightly remember Rafa also said he'll win the prem in his reign, i see no challenge yet for the title.
