The Comeback Player of the Year award was announced today and the top 5 went as below:

    1.Jon Kitna
    2.Quincy Carter
    3.Orlando Brown
    4.Stephen Davis
    5.Jerome Woods

1st, I thought you had to be good previously to be the CPoY....How can Kitna and Carter even be considered, neither ever did anything all that great before 2003 and in Carters case, he still hasnt even had a good season....

2nd, Where is Jake Plummer??? He is the real CPoY!

3rd, Orlando Brown, Stephen Davis, and Jerome Woods are excellent selections and any one of them could have been the CPoY without debate from me....

I was disappointed not seeing Plummer in there. Don't agree with Kitna being the winner also. A better choice would have been Stephen Davis.

I agree, td. I think Stephen Davis would have been an excellent choice. If he gets rolling in the playoffs, the Panthers might make some noise.

DAwk, thats what the CPoY awards is about...a good player who was down and had a "comeback" season....Davis only had 800 yards last year, subpar by his standards and hes around 1400 this year, that is a definite comeback to greatness

I cant believe I'm saying this, but I agree with the Dawkster here. Davis never slumped. He performed (when he got the ball) as well as he ever did. Steve "I don't understand the Pro game" Spurrier just thought he could fun and gun his way to the Lombardi trophy by throwing the ball a gazillion times a game. I understand the yardage difference you are making, my point is that Davis was not declining, he just wasn't being used. I bet Daniel Snyder would like to have that bonehead decision back. Hmmmmm!

Dawk, we do disagree about Kitna though. I think his performance will make it rough on the Bengals next year if Palmer falters. Kitna played some solid football this year, give the poor guy his props! We can't keep making fun of him anymore just because he's a Bengal.

    I thought Choices 2, 3 & 5 could all be valid.

How about adding Thomas Jones (TB) to that list?

I still think Stephen Davis should have gotten it, but if not then I think we're all missing the obvious choice. Donovan McNabb. No one was any further down after the first month of the season and he played his way out of his funk and has the Eagles flying high. I know that the award usually is a year to year thing, but let's think outside the box for once.

If Peter Warrick doesn't come out of his funk and finally play like he used to at Florida State, Kitna does not have the year he had.

Stephen Davis plays with a young QB and is main reason they are in the playoffs. It doesn't make any sense not having him win.

Hey TD, ever hear of Chad Johnson? I thought PWs only big game came against our sorry excuse for a defense!

Of course Montana had Rice, Marino had Duper & Clayton, blah, blah...

I hate that arguement, can you tell. lol.

You can hardly notice it kcgsc...LOL

I figured the way Davis got run out of town and then came up big with Carolina, he would be a solid choice.

But I am going to let my bias opinion sneak in real quick on Plummer. There were a few people in the NFL world who were certain Shanahan wouldn't be able to break Plummer from his bad habits in Arizona. What a turn around he had. Hopefully later on today he will add to his great year with another win in Indy. It is Sunday morning 1:15 AM pacific time and I still am having trouble sleeping thinking about the game...LOL

I was reading an article on NFL.com by Vic Carucci. He reminded me of who should be my obvious choice for "comeback" player of the year...

Priest Holmes had a season ending hip injury that still had the organization baffled at draft time enough to draft Larry Johnson with their #1 pick. No one was certain he would even be able to return, but he has had a great year. Vermeil said Priest is still exhibiting a much longer recovery time (post game) than he did before the hip injury, and that he would probably be all the way back by next season. That's scary!

Plummer would be a good choice for "comeback" player too TD. His change of scenery has done his career a world of good!

ps: Here's an early note of sympathy for your Broncs. It's just the 3rd qtr now, but it's getting to the point of needing a miracle now.

Won't here it from me. Losing to the Colts by that many points is punishment enough for anything you've said or done all year.

    Whew!
