Although, like ten's of millions of our fans around Europe, I'm utterly over the moon with what Sir Alex is now doing with the first team (the title in surely in the bag), our under-18 team is 23 points behind the leaders (unfortunately Citeh) in Barcalys North-West England U18 table.

I realise that we are by far and away the richest club on the planet, but it would be nice if some 'home grown' talent came through the system, at least once in a while.

I can't think of any REAL quality to come out of the acadamy for almost 15 years now (admittidly Ryan Giggs, David Beckham et al!) - and although it's rewarding to go out and buy any player in the world we fancy, it would possibly alittle mean more to some reds, if top class talent came through the club from boy to man (we don't want to grow to become 'a chelsea'!).

Are the club just too reliant on the 'diversification' / non-footballing funds from United creditcards, loans, corporate boxes, duvet covers & far east superstores? Should more empaphis be put on successful youth delelopment, rather than a buy buy buy attitude, if we are maintain any kind of historic soul for our club?

Sucess is success is success - but sometimes it worries me that United should be more than just winning. Doesn't our history deserve it?

    What say you?

If you actually think about it, most of Arsenal's youngsters haven't been produced through the academy. Most have been on youth contracts elsewhere and have been offered ridiculous sums of money to move to Arsenal. The others are bought from feeder clubs/other clubs.

Man Utd do produce decent youngsters but many don't break through to the first team.

Lol, not one of the players listed there has come through the Man Utd academy.
    Kuszczak is 25 next month.
All Man Utd do is purchase players that have come up through other teams academys.

So no, Man Utd don't have much decent talent coming through [IMG]
