I guess any of them other than Hines Ward could be considered for the early CPoY award, but I think Burress will be the one. Bettis & Zereoue will most likely not be playing in Pittsburgh or anywhere as starters and Maddox didn't have that horrible of a year. (relative)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (DolfanDale)</div><div class='quotemain'>I agree, td. I think Stephen Davis would have been an excellent choice. If he gets rolling in the playoffs, the Panthers might make some noise.</div> Yes Davis probably would, and Delhomme could easily fit in as the biggest surprise of the season, bit the Panther's need to get their DB situat ion under control before we can call ourselves "Super Bowl contenders"
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>Early Entries for CPoY award next year. 1) Kurt Warner 2) Mark Brunell 3) Rich Gannon</div> lmao kurt warner? You mean brenda warner his agent who whines to radio stations cause her husband cant keep his job. Bulger is getting his raise and proved he is worthy of the starting job in stlouis. I dont see warners future in stlouis going anywhere, unless they move him. I do agree on brunell and gannon tho.
I dont think jake plummer deserves the honor for one reason. If you are a comeback player of the year. How can you earn this award when you were out with ankle injury and a shoulder problem. Didnt jake miss games? Didnt portis lead the broncs down field. I think priest holmes deserves this award for one reason. Almost everyone around him did write him off due to his hip problem, some exagerated and said it wasnt healed and ranted and raved about how well the chiefs did in the draft to get holmes replacment. larry johnson. Holmes came back and broke the single season record in tds by a rb. Priest was the same back and was the same rb we have seen the last few years. Imo i think he deserves this award.
i only put warner down because he has the potential to be the best qb in the league and i did not st louis keeping both. As for priest holmes winning comeback player of the year, dont you have to have a down year 1st? he did the this year as last, what a comeback! he came back and did the same thing as the year before, that is consistency not a comeback
What about Willis McGahee - didn't play at all in his rookie year, and then he just busted out to be a 1100 yard 13 TD back in only 11 games.
Comeback player of the year is specifically for an established vet that misses a year or has his numbers decline, then posts an impressive season....McGahee wasnt established before last year...incedentally, WELCOME to the forums....nice to have a Bills fan to spar with....
but he was more then established in College, and would have been a top 5 pick in his draft had he not got his knee shredded (in all likelyhood, he would have been the first runningback taken) - and he would have been even better had his knee never suffered three ligament tears. And I'm sure that no one doubts that he would have been a 1,000 yard back no matter what team he ended up on - he did it in Buffalo with only 11 starts - went over 1100 yards - it's gonna be very interesting to see what he does with 16 if he stays healthy all year long (and I have no doubts about whether or not he can stay healthy for a whole season).
McGahee was awesoem in college and yea, wouldve been an awesome pick if his knee didnt go out. but his knee did go out, it only took away 1 season. he is still going to be an awesome player and a enormous threat.
