Micheal carrick and John Obi Mikel..are two wonderful players with great foresight when on the ball...but after man-utd collected money and added more to it from the Mikel obi transfer...how would you rate both players...considering the number of times they have both played in all club matches (EPL, CHAMPS LEAGUE,FA CUP,CARLING CUP).
Since Carrick joined Man U, I've stood by my thoughts that he is massively overrated. But I've really tried to analyse his performances, and try and see how he quietly dictates a game from midfield. He reminds me of Lampard in the fact that he can pick the ball up from a centre-back, turn his body and play a defence splitting ball. But if we look at Carrick's assists, he doesn't get enough. I know he's primarily a holding midfielder, and allows Scholes to go forward, but he should chip in with a few more goals. Regarding Mikel, it's his first season in England, he's had a few problems and he's still a teenager. It's far too early to judge him, but we've seen glimpses of his potential. We really should be asking who is more overrated - Fabregas or Carrick?
Just haven't seen enough of Mikel. A lot of people don't rate Carrick very highly. I say he will become one of the most influential midfielders in the country! He will become the Veron that Fergy was after. Watch this space!
Mikel is absolute rubbish, and to rub salt into Chelseas wounds - he is now claiming that his family were threatned so he "HAD" to play. What a basketcase - why doesnt he apply to go on Jerry Springer and discuss all of his personal problems?! All I can say about him is - thanks for the easy £16 mil!! Your rubbish! Michael Carrick however I am a huge admirer of, there are lots he can do to better his game, but I dont doubt his ability and potential. He is an excellent passer of the ball and an exceptional ball winner (imagine him and Hargreaves!!), with ability to win the ball in the air. His problem for me, is attacking / goalscoring and quickness - sometimes he tends to dwell a little on the ball. For me - Carrick is by far the better player.
I still think the 18million pounds man-utd paid for carrick is the world's craziest figure for such a player....he dose'nt fit into the shoes of 18-20yr olds like fabregas (the best passer of the ball) nor does he score the goals..please watch carrick and Mikel closely, thanks.
Crazy figure?! Last time I checked Man United were top of the league. Surely Carrick is one only major difference (considering Scholes and Solskjaer were with us the season before they were injured?!) - and hence for the £18 mil price tag - justified!
Carrick is a lot better...i am a admirer of him, his hardwork,interception,passing. He is a lot better...i am sure Dan and RandomButter and all of the other Chelsea fans on this forum will disagree but i think Carrick is a great player

Carrick is good but he still wasnt worth the 18 Million and I dont like Mikel I dont see what he brings to Chelsea.
