Sir Alex will be in france tonight personally to watch underdogs Lille take on the consecutive & current champs of France. If SAF needed a perfect game to see how Lille coped against a big team at home, this fixture could not have come any better!

Lille however have got their influential midfieder Matthew Bodmer crocked but he is pushing to be fit for the Man Utd game

Lyon have no fresh injuries and as their next game is on Wednesday away to Roma, they will field their strongest side. Lyon are currently 11 points clear of 2nd placed Lens and 15 clear of Lille in 3rd. Lose this game and the gap becomes 8 and the initiative swings to Lens.

So as always (lyon = celtic), I expect this to be routine fodder for Lyon and a possible 1-3 scoreline to Lyon.

Lille obviously have a one day recuperation advantage over Man Utd, but we have the advantage of playing a somewhat "easier" home game this weekend.

Man Utd slipped up last year when everything went wrong in the CL. Scholes and Rooney got sent off, Heinze got injured, Man Utd could not buy a goal. The season before that, we lost to a very good Milan side but we had our chances home and away to bury the game, again we could not buy a goal. Prior to that season we lost to Porto, a travesty of justice if you ask me, Paul Scholes goal was clear as day to put us 2-0 up but was wrongly disallowed. Even going one back, we lost to a very inform Real Madrid, just!! But we were scoring for fun that season but just could not keep it tight at the back!

So I think the CL is there for the taking, this team reminds me of the treble winning team, clicking in every department and a squad far better than Chelsea's in my opinion (strength & depth)!

So my prediction for wednesday is 0-2 to Man Utd simply because Lille have no teeth up front, they havent scored in 3 league games but they do defend well.

I also think Man Utd will go further this season that any of the last 4 seasons and maybe even win it!

    Lille 1-2 Lyon.

Lille looked like they won it but two late goals from Fred and Squillaci sealed 3 points for lyon

Hopefully Lyon take a lot of steam out of Lille.
