Only 2 Black Footballers have won the Footballer of the Year award, they are John Barnes and Thierry Henry. That is pretty sad considering Black Footballers have contributed a lot to our game during the past 40 years, It is shocking that there isn't a lot of Black Managers in our game. It is also the same on the global scene. When African or Asian nations compete at the World Cup there Managers are either White European or South American. Brazil have a mass of Black Players representing the National side, but the National side has never has a Black Manager. Only once has a Black Manager appeared at a European Championship, that was Frank Rijkaard, who lead Holland at Euro 2000. The following Black Managers have not done too badly when given the opportunity, Ruud Gullit Managed Chelsea and Won the FA Cup in 1997, Jean Tigana won a French Championship with Monaco and lead Fulham to the Premiership.(I've also heard that he applied for the French job, but was turned down because he was black). Frank Rijkaard has won 2 La Liga titles with Barcelona and the Champions League. The Champions League success was a great achievement as Frank Rijkaard became the First Black Manager to win the Champions League. It was a victory for Football but nothing was made of it via the press or the media. I guess there are fears over a Black Manager. It could be the racial abuse from the fans should thing go wrong on the pitch. Maybe a Black Manager could mean Black Players in the starting 11, in which some sad fans may not like it. Are Black Managers going to have the same Problems Black Footballers got some 40 years ago ? Cannot help thinking that if Eric Cantona was black and did the Kung Fu kick, he would have been kicked out of the game. This was the time when the FA drew the line and started the "kick rascism out of football" ,I believed they did this because a White Footballer was on the receiving end. The game need Black Managers.
Agree that Gullit Tigana and Rijkard are were good managers but I dont really think that there is any racial motivation in this country regarding black managers. Your point about black managers bringing in black players is rubbish. I cant think of any team in the PL that doesnt already have black players. Furthermore, I can see no logic in why black managers would have the same problem as black players 40 years ago. I think that the FA are doing a good job with the kick racism out of football. I'm sure that we will see some more black managers in the future. But we shouldnt employ a black manager just because hes black.

Sometimes i think people just want there to be some sort of racist reason why an individual or individuals dont get certain positions. Stupid.
Rascism has no affect on footballer of the year. Which other black player had season that warranted Player of the Year? Dwight Yorke-98/99 Is the only one that springs to mind.
