Liverpool should be trying to buy Yakubu.

He's got pace, power, he's a good poacher and has a great shot, he's young, skilful, gets assists, hadn't missed a penalty for about 100 years before his shocker against Bristol City, has a great goals per game ratio in all competitions, is used to the Prem and a top player in a struggling side.

He'd be great alongside Kuyt and next season, and if we shed Pongolle, Cisse, Fowler and maybe even Crouch we'd be left with Yakubu, Kuyt, Bellamy and Voronin - a pretty good strikeforce.

    I hope we all agree.

His pens are crap (pure luck), he's lost his pace, he's good but not great, and untested in CL. So maybe a good Prem striker, but i don't know if he's a title winning striker. Plus he'll go to Portsmouth.

Yakubu quality player. Too good for Middlesborough, he deserves to be given the opportunity to prove his worth at the very pinnacle of the game (If Bellamy warrants this opportunity then God alone knows why Yakubu doesn't).

Thing is Boro are never short for cash, so they won't sell unless the Yak puts in a request, he might be comfortable where he is, and seems to be enjoying himself.

I have no idea why people have so much abuse for the guy, his goalscoring record speaks for itself - 61 goals in 3.5 seasons is not a bad record by any means. Especially as he has had a couple of major injuries in that time.

He may not be as quick as he used to be, but he's still quick, and he's definitely not fat.

Do you seriously think Liverpool or the fans would baulk at looking at a player because Fergie rates him?

Penalties 'pure luck'?? An endless string of successes in anything can be lazily put down to luck but you can't argue with the facts.

Yakubu is too good for middlesborough but not good enough for any top 4 teams. he would suit a team like Portsmouth IMO
