This talk of overhyped transfer fees for Ronaldo has got me thinking. Would anyone pay more than the ?37m paid for Figo. Who would you rather have in their prime Figo or Ronaldo.
We aren`t talking about a player in his prime yet though are we? We`re talking speculation of what a club would pay for a player who has, admittedly by Figo himself, replaced him, both as captain and main playmaker for portugal, and his yet to reach his prime.
Ronaldo is nowadays being touted as the next big big money move. And in My opinion he is not worthy of eclipsing the fees that were paid for Figo and of course Zidane, to me he is not in the same braket as those players. Perhaps YET is a key word, and obviously people are going to disagree because football is a game of opinions.
Yes but when Zizou n Figo they were at the height of their powers where as Ronaldo, still has 4-5 years to go before starting to reach his peak. I for one wouldn't be surprised to see a transfer worth in the region of £50m for Ronaldo.
Based on the fact that Zidane and Figo at 29 and 28 years respectively were at their `prime` as players when madrid broke the world record to sign them and that Ronaldo is already looking to eclipse their mantles at just 22, based on the current, ever increasing, fees for players and the fact that Ronaldo `could` become even better, £48m+ is, in my opinion, a fair price.
