If you think that in 1970 sets went on until someone led by 2 games - whenever that might have happened - and that doubles matches could be epic events lasting many hours and producing some of the most dramatic matches, what do you think might constitute a GS mens match in 2017? I doubt anyone thought cricket could ever have been condensed into the farce that is 20/20, so could it ever be possible that horrors like the Champions tie-break, round robin qualifying (!), or 3 set GS matches could ever feature at the big events? It seems unlikely, but if you'd been told how disgracefully Doubles would have been dismembered you'd never have believed it, so why not? Can you ever trust money-fixated administrators not to chuck it all in pursuit of "accessibility" for bigger market share? The US Open already gives a scary hint, with their refusal to countenance the glory that is the infinitely long final set. How long before the rest bow to the power of TV and tailor the game to the requirements of the low attention-span grazing TV audience?
In 10 years time the only differenet thing will be that we have a great player from great britian - myself!
Full of young english players who the media will bum bash as their number 1 and rising star.. and end up failing misersbly.
