With a summer approaching that clearly will change a few faces at anfield, it seems the usual suspects will link the club with players who are in the limelight at the moment. So far we have seen the eto'o bust up at barca the constant linking of fernando torres, the return of michael owen, a possible swoop for anelka at bolton and the main name in the frame valencia hitman David Villa, now don't get me wrong it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't one or two of the above on rafa's wish list, but for me looking at the squad he assembled at valencia and the squad he is assembling at liverpool he likes an all round type of striker. This brings me to a target that perhaps will be viewed as sink or swim but let's face it names and reputations don't guarentee you a 20 goal a season striker. The man in question is french forward David Trezeguet who may not be the player who many will see as the man on paper but in reality i believe (and i know he has been watched by our scouts and benitez likes him) could be the anwser as one of our quartet next season. He is very good in the air, he has pace, can finish just as well on either foot and links up well. It does seem as though we may lost either crouch or bellamy along with fowler and although many fans believe voronin was signed as a striker i don't think rafa has that in mind as voronin is more of a freddie lungberg who also can play up front. So with kuyt and bellamy i feel we could be looking at Trezeguet and AN OTHER of whom i would love to see Villa but the fee looks too much. Time will tell but the shortlist isn't bad so far.
I am not keen on trezeguet. He is like a poor mans henry and when i've seen him play, which hasn't been recently, i have always been of the opinion that he misses alot of chances. Of the other strikers, david villa would be the dream signing. I like the look of david nugent. I know it might be a bit of a gamble but i think he is worth a punt. I've seen him play quite a few times this season and he is definately prem quality at least. He would be a good fourth striker.
Henry and trezeguet are different in style, but i feel rafa is right to go for trezeguet as he would suit our style!
Trezeguets getting on a bit now. Liverpool already have enough strikers but if get him on the cheap then thats ok i suppose
They have crap strikers, they need a good one but who wud go to liverpool that has had such an illustrous career as him.
