I think if threes anything we have learnt from this season it is that the squad needs strength in depth. We have struggled this season to replace injured players and if we don't bring in some more squad players we will see similar problems next season. So, I think we should take a look at getting 2 new defenders, 1 new midfielder and a striker. Any suggestions people? My ideas are: Defenders - Alex (PSV - thats if that work permit gets sorted out) - Sol Campbell (yes hes old, but would do the job for a year or two) - Michael Dawson Midfielders - David Bentley - Scott Parker (maybe worth tryin to bring him back?) - Steve Sidwell Strikers - Yakubu - Obafemi Martins - David Nugent? Yes, I am aware that some of these players aren't what we would usually look for. I think a few more English players are needed in the team and maybe we should look in the championship, there have been so many good signings that have come up from the championship in the past, maybe Chelsea should start having a go?
If you buy any of those strikers or midfielders you have mentioned they will ruin there career because lack of games. I think that the money you have you should be looking at better players.
Sol Campbell, are you out of your mind? All of them players are too average for your team, their careers will be ruined.
Such childish ignorant comments. Alan Smith? Wasn't he suppose to be one of England's future stars? Oh wait, United put a stop to that... Please do not talk about think you do not understand.

I'd not like to see Bentley go anywhere thank you very much! Good list of players, each having their own particular qualities that would help Chelsea I feel. Seems someone on a lesser 'Galactic' scale might bring a bit more honest football to the squad as opposed those just playing for the cash, messrs Ballack and Shevchenko for example.
the only one i can see chelsea going for is nugent because he is imense, actually maybe martins but i dont think so. also on a side not, alan smith wasnt all that good when he went to man u and isnt all that good now
Dawson, Alex and Martins are the only people I can see out of the list that Chelsea would sign.. Dont think the rest are good enough.
i can see better players that chelsea could sign, btw alex is owned by chelsea so, i say, defender tal ben haim, midfielder, erm proberly Nedved if we ry, and a striker maybe go for a youngster adu or Kisily this belarusian.
Even being a Chelski fan, what the hell will we do with David Bentley. Blackburn actually NEED THEM in their FIRST TEAM... Not the Chelski reserves.... Personally, all those midfielders listed can be pwned by Shaun Wright Phillips and Joe Cole. We have an awesome midfield. Robben, Lampard, Ballack, Essien, Cole, Makelele! Desailly when he was around....

Parker was a disgruntled oaf who got bought to Chelsea (from Charlton i think?) because he was in the English First Team. Where is he now...Newcastle? xD Chelsea may go after Stewart Downing, great player, with Robben possibly out all season, we're gonna need a left winger...
Chelsea will have to sell before they buy. Abramovich isn;t going to pump silly money into the club anymore. I can see the following players leaving: Shaun Wright-Phillips - £8m Khalid Boulahrouz - £2m Wayne Bridge - £4m Andriy Shevchenko (possibly) - £14m That should generate around £28m. Abramovich will probably make that up to £30m-£35m. Rather than spunking that on one big signing, I think Abramovich will expect 4 or 5 players for that money. I agree Chelsea need at least one defender, one midfielder and one striker all capable of slotting into the starting lineup seamlessly. I think they also need a couple more squad players, maybe both defenders.
