Recently I've heard a lot of Chelsea fans say that Utd are clear at the top, because they've been lucky with injuries this season. So I thought I'd have a look at the stats for the Big 4 and see how many games each of their "Best 11" played and how many they missed through injury. Then worked out a rough average of how many players in their best 11 they had out per game:

    Man Utd - VD Sar(26), Neville(23), Ferdinand(28), Vidic(22), Evra(21), Giggs(22), Scholes(23), Carrick(24), Ronaldo(26) Rooney(26) Saha(24)

Average of 1.86 players out per game

    Celsea - Cech(11), Cole(20),Terry(18), Carvalho(25), Ferreira(16), Essien(28), Ballack(20), Lampard(28) , Makalele(23), Drogba(28), Shevchenko(25)

Average of 2.65 players out per game

    Liverpool - Reina(28), Finnan(28), Agger(21), Carragher(28), Riise(26), Alonso(24), Gerrard(29), Garcia(11), Sissoko(11), Kuyt(23), Bellamy(19)

Average of 2.45 players out per game

    Arsenal - Lehman(26), Eboue(15), Toure(25), Gallas(11), Clichy(18), Rosicky(17), Gilberto(25), Fabregas(27), Hleb(23), Van Persie(17), Henry(17)

Average of 3.38 players out per game

I admit it's not the most scientific calculations ever, but it does show that all 4 of the top teams had players out injured during the season and wouldn't say that Utd had a big advantage on the injury front. They just played the better football so far this season. Any comments?

Do chelsea fans forget we had scholes out for ages last season and rio for a nearly a whole season. Not to mention Saha has been injured for ages. We have had injuries problems aswell as chelsea.

Rio was out because he missed a drugs test, interpret that however you want. [IMG]

man u are top for the simple reason that they have played the best out of any team that ive seen play as a team. thats the problem with bringing loads of new faces which the top four have all done except man u. if you do a statistic of players then man u players will have been at the club longest, liverpool will come a close 2nd
