Several of the papers say that the club are now offering him a mere five-year contract at ?150,000 per week. Apparently this isn't enough for JT, who wants a 9-year contract on the same wages and is threatening to leave if he doesn't get it. If this is true - and I say IF as the papers may be making it up - then it is the sort of thing which makes me want to give up Premiership football and support a lower league side. He could not get ?150,000 per week from anywhere else - but it still isn't enough? Is he crazy? He will not get 150k a week from any other club in the world and there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that anywhere else will pay him 150k/week for NINE YEARS.

I think the rumours might be true that he rejected a deal, but, to say he will leave Chelsea is ludicrous. Where would he go that is better and where he can be captain along with being loved as much by the fans as he is now. Nowhere. The dopey Henry rumours are just as bad when he has said several times he will never leave Arsenal. Unless Wenger decides to sell him, it will be like Vieira if Henry or Terry leave, it will be the club selling rather than the player wanting to go, and Chelsea hardly need to sell him do they. But, Fergie sole van Nistelrooy and Beckham because of a spat, and Mourinho although a little less agressive has a bigger ego, so who knows.
This is totally ridiculous, if the reports are true. JT should be extremely thankful that Chelsea are willing to give him 150k/wk for five years. His actual value is much less...he'd be lucky to get 80k in some other club. So he should quit trying to hold RA to ransom and accept what he's being offered! Same goes for Lampard. If they think they're irreplaceable, they're very wrong. In terms of talent, they're both quite average. And if we're talking about "commitment"...well, they're greedy demands show it's mostly the money they want!
