Essien has played a few games as centre back for chelsea. can sissoko potentially do the same. if it could happens, we could be free to play all our CM player at the same time and allow riise to play in Midfield and put agger to left back.

I dont think he would play well as a CB, at least not for a few years anyway. Momo is a great tackler etc however he does sometimes lunge in and make some rash tackles which at the back will cost you dearly. Also he tend to get booked which will cause problems as when a centre back gets booked alot it means they have to hold back slighty in tackles etc.

I think in years to come once momo has some more experience he could possible play as a defender, but not yet. Another thing that he would have to work on is his aerial challenges as does sometimes get beaten too easily in the air.

Definatly something to consider for the future though.

I know Essien has played at the back but I wouldn't say he has done a good job there. I don't think Momo is as good as Essien yet like you say maybe in a few years ,but in my eyes I just can't see him playing there. He's a great destroyer but a little too clumsy.I can honestly see him being released in a year or 2 because Mascherano will step in his shoes because his passing is much better.

Sissoko is big and strong and if he gains more experience then he could become they next rock at the back with Jamie Carragher. He is too slow though IMO. You cant have two slow defenders no matter how well they read the game.

He's young and definently has the potential and right mindframe. He's a great tackler, and makes up so much ground in a match. He needs to work on his ball retention and distribution though

How on earth can you say that zonal marking costs us too many goals. Which team over the last 2 seasons have let the least goals from set plays.Yep thats right its Liverpool. The only reason zonal marking gets a bad press is because Andy Gray says its crap because when he has dissected it he hasn't got someone to point the finger at. Look at the goals against column and see if zonal marking works to say it doesn't is stupid.Just have a look at the other teams that use man 2 man at set pieces and how many times thay let goals in because 1 man shuts off for a second . Zonal marking doesn't allow this to happen
