Why does fergie continually claim that his side always seek to attack when he has developed an obsession for playing 1 up front and sticking Rooney on the left hand side of midfield. It seems a little hypocritical to me and I think that it is affecting Rooney's form too, he is being pushed in and out of position and cannot play himself into any sort of form I feel this negativity may endanger utd's season and the cabinet will be empty come the end of may.
Check out the goals columns this season. If United aren't an attacking team then football really is dying!
I'm afraid I have to agree with you - the only defence I can offer Fergie is that he is playing mind games with the opposition but I don't think that is really the case. He promised to attack at Anfield and we spent most of the game defending. I am also worried about Quieroz's clear influence of our selection of a 4-5-1 formation in Europe. It just doesn't work for me and nullifies the effect of Rooney by playing him on the wing. United are at their best when attacking so I would like us to always keep our 4-4-2 formation. With the injuries we have he may even consider a 4-3-3 formation with Giggs and Ronaldo flanking Rooney up front - it depends on how much faith he has in Smith/Dong. Perhaps he is waiting until we have a ball winner in centre-midfield i.e. Hargreaves before we adopt a 4-4-2 in Europe because Scholes and Carrick can leave our back 4 quite exposed.
