After seeing today that Charlton want to propose a change in how the new television funding will be distributed, I can't help but agreeing, but not entirely. This new structure means that relegated teams will be paid a huge sum in a retroactive payment structure, almost a reward scheme, and this has proved to be a source of contraversy with critics feeling that the same three teams that are relegated one season will have a budget big enough to buy promotion in the following season. Why isn't the payment offset to the teams that will appear in the following season? This would give smaller clubs such as Watford a fighting chance at staying up by giving them a financial lift which they can invest in the hope of survival and therefore creating a more competitive league in which the small teams can afford to develop quality players and challenge the larger clubs.
