Arsenal have great potential, but at the moment that's all it is...potential. Yet, people write about Arsenal as if their current crop of youngsters will invariably become dominant. They may...but they may not. Here are two dangers I can see for them 1) Some key players do not fulfill their potential. Especially if one of them is Fabregas. They have rightly invested a lot in this player, but where is the alternative? If Fabregas does not continue to develop you may have difficulties, and there is no guarantee that the likes of Denilson, Bendtner, Walcott et al will ever make the grade. 2) Their midfield players need to learn how to hit the goal from 6 yards out. Ronaldo has outscored your entire midfield this season, as has Lampard, as did Pires and Llungberg when they played regularly. Unless Rosicky and Fabregas in particular improve on this Arsenal will flatter to decieve for a while yet. Let the debate begin...
Arsenal have an amazing crop of youngsters compared to the other big teams. But, they lack that killer instinct and knowledge of how to scrap a win. I am a big fan of wenger, but i think if they are to win trophies regulalry, he needs to stop trying to proove you dont need to spend money on prooven players. They dont need 11 of them, but 2-3 class acts would be the diference
Dan, I don't see how your club is going to dominate in the future if you want to break even and be solvent by 2010 (Abramovich and the Chelsea boards words, not mine). I think if the days of big spending are over for you like your board seem to be implying, what good young players are coming through or being targeted? Its a fairly simple debate to settle really; You wouldn't get pillored by a neutral if you said Arsenal are as a good if not a better footballing side than Liverpool right now (look a league position), and are players are still developing, which leaves us with the possibilty of whether how much better Arsenal can be than Livepool, Man Utd and Chelsea in the future if they keep on improving. Your right to say its just potential that we have right now, but if signs of our potential are better than a team like Liverpool's current estblished team, then who to say how good we are going to be when the team reaches full potential?
And who says that your potential is better than our established team? If thats the case then your potential is better than your established team because Liverpools team seems to be doing a little better when it comes to winning trophies recently than Arsenals 1st team.Ok you may have beat us this season but your 1st team is just 1 point in front of us and isn't that a huge margin(take away the result at your place and that changes also we'll see next week) and I don't recall seeing Arsenal in any of the recent cup draws do you. Lets dissect the games we played in the cup FA cup 1st You rarely got out of your half your defenders performed heroics to keep us out and your 3rd goal was a breakaway and a mistake because we was trying to keep play going (arsenal hoof the ball anyone) Carling cup ok you hammered us but it wasn't exactly our 1st team was it. Lets not forget the team that played us that night probably cost more than ours if you include Baptista's price. Potential does't always make it through ask Franny Jeffers!
Arsenal- 100% Overhyped How does Arsehole Wenger expect his crop of "amazing super duper uber" youngsters to dominate the Premier League. I honestly couldn't care less if they done brilliant in the Carling Cup, the fact is: Experience Counts. If this is Arsenals "master plan" by breast feeding youngsters.. then it's going to fail miserably.
Arsenal have the best youth set-up in the EPL this is what i think the team will be in 3-5 years <div align="center">Almunia Eboue--Diaby--Djourou--Clichy Denilson--Merida--Fabregas Van persie-Adebayor-Walcott</div>
dont worry.. within three years, United Chelsea and 'Pool will have bought World Class players that will win them the league. Sorry, but if Arsenal really want to mount a serious challenge they need to stop breast feeding youngsters.
