Seriously, can someone please explain why Frank Lampard is hated by non Chelsea fans. I find it incredible that a player that is rated so highly around the world gets so much negative remarks by his fellow Englishmen. Please forget all this rubbish that he's fat and arrogant because I really don't think that is the case. In my opinion as a fan of football Lampard is a true pro and a perfect role model for kids to learn from. Yes he does have a run in with another player and sometimes has words with the ref but this is nothing new in football All players do this. Plus he is the Chelsea vice captain so he has a right to ask the ref questions. I admit he didn't have a good World Cup, but nobody in a England shirt set the world alight! You forget he was the top scorer in getting England to the World Cup in the first place! Lampard scores 20+ goals from midfield a season and considering that is a top strikers scoring rate people still slate him! Can you please help me understand why?
I just think he does not play with passion,he plays for money. And actually he's really over-rated.Stevie G,Kaka,CESC FABREGAS..i would say they are better midfielders than him.Ever seen him running with the ball?
Gerrard had a chance to move to Chelsea he knocked it back and if you wanted Gerrard to play left back he would do it. Gerrard plays his heart out each time he pulls on the Liverpool shirt. Rio I think he plays for the money as well..
Lampard is a great player! All of the posters on this site would love to have a midfielder playing for their club that can score more goals than the vast majority of strikers, you're not being honest if you say otherwise (still when has honesty got anything to do with anything). His England performances prior to the world cup stand against anyones (he was the best player in Euro 04 after Rooney got injured). He had a bad world cup as did most of the squad to be fair (including St Gerrard). What gives Gerrard this perceived automatic right to be first choice for England? Where has this been earned? If the talk is about overrated players, since scoring a last minute rocket in the FA Cup final last year, what has Gerrard done since? Lampard has scored 20+ goals for his club... Where has Gerrard been (apart for lamely rolling over for ManU and perfecting his diving). Am I missing the point here? So he can score the odd exceptional goal maybe once a year. I'd rather have twenty deflected penalties. Maybe that has something to do with why Lampard has two Premiership Champions medals... On the greedy front, imagine if you were the second most senior man at your work and two under achieving new boys arrive and are getting paid more than you! I think most people would have something to say. Don't get me wrong, I think footballers do get paid far too much but I would rather the players (which ever club) got the money than some faceless directors. Added the point, I somehow suspect that Gerrard gets paid a few quid aswell.
He has about a million shots per game, then people rave when he gets so many goals. Half his goals this season seem to be deflected anyway. As soon as he stops scoring, he looks a bit ordinary. There are not many world class midfielders about, who are so incapable of taking on a man. Plus, his reaction to Joey Barton's necessary and uncontroversial comments after the world cup, showed him to be completely deluded as to the contribution he has made to an underperforming England team.
Anything to back up the deflections to goals or just how you perceive it? Anything to back up that he has more shots than most? Top mid-field scorer in the PL and joint top on assists, both facts and not opinion.
He is a vastly overated performer who contributes nothing but his goals It is his goals that mask his overall contribution to play that is negligable. He is not a creative influence and he is not a good tackler. He scores so many goals because he plays for a multimillion pound side who possess players who can cover for him and get him into positons in and around the box where he can continually shoot However the reason why he is despised is because he cannot accept any criticism of his below par performances He siad in the world cup that ex players should not criticise current players and that he would never do so If he held up his hands and admitted that he was shocking nobody would have as much of a problem with him
He's a good player, but not even close to being a great player, yet he seems to think he really is the second best player in the world. His ring-kissing is a bit naff, not something to hate him for but he does look a plum when he does it, and he takes the whole badge kissing a bit far when we all know he's only there for the money, and will soon be gone elsewhere for even more money. Then there was the biography where he blamed everybody except himself for the World Cup fiasco, despite the fact that he's never consistantly performed for England, and he was dire in the World Cup. Not really his fault that he's been rubbish for England though, if England did the same as Chelsea ie. put two midfielders behind him to do his tackling & passing, so that he can just goal-hang then I'm sure he'd do ok for England.
At Chelsea we think he's the dogs danglies cause he scores so many goals and hacks so many of you lot off. Keep it up Lamps. Goals, Prem winners medals and you hack loads of opposing supporters off. Well done that man!!!!!! Seriously though, you guys are so repetivive in your arguments...
I think its because he plays outstanding for Chelsea game in game out but when he plays for England he's too inconsistent IMO.
For England he is crap but i dont care. For chelsea i think he is a great player. He scores loads and his shots are usually great. I jsut hate the way he always moans and celebrates as if he is 'the one and only'
