Wayne Rooney had a very very poor game this for England as did so many of the other England players. I hate listening to the silly excuses about Rooney having to chase back etc as quite simply that is not Rooneys job. Rooneys job is to be like a Bergkamp, Cantona, Zico type player and create and inspire his team. Yes he is young but we cant use this youth as an excuse. Rooney has had a very poor season for Man Utd and its the media and pundits like Mark Lawrenson who really go over the top hyping him up. When Rooney does a simple 5 yard pass Mark Lawrenson becomes very excited and describes it as a world class pass by a genius. Alan Hansen said that Rooney would be the first name in the Brazil team.

This hype is really crazy and I believe now we are finally realising that Wayne Rooney is not good enough to even lace Gazzas boots never mind the ridiculous statements about him being the white pele and the next Maradonas! [IMG]

hopefully rooneys performance against israel will put an end to all these claims about how brilliant he is, when really its the rubbish premier league opposition that make him look good, and he has a long way to go before he is anywhere near the finished article, and it makes me really frustrated when people go on about how rooneys better than drogba, rooney the guy who

    a) has not scored in the champions league since his debut, and has no assists to his name
[IMG] has an absolutely crap england goalscoring record
c)was nowhere against chelsea, liverpool, or arsenal at old trafford this season

    drogba who

    a) has two hat-tricks this season
[IMG] has scored in every big game for chelsea with the exception of tottenham and man utd, in which he played well, and he had a disallowed goal against tottenham

like roy keane said "WHAT THE BOY WON YET??", and he really does have a way to go to be considered world class, and noone ever say hes better in any way than gerrard, one of the 2 england players(along with j.cole) who are actually world class, and show up for big games

Robinho is also way over-rated. Infact i think Brazilians are finally realising that this guy Robinho is way overhyped and instead Brazil are preferring players like Elano who are better than Robinho.

I wouldent say Rooney is as bad as Robinho as Rooney is much better than Robinho but definately noway as good as Ronaldo, Kaka, Henry, Fabregas, Drogba etc

Too much pressure being put on Rooney, thats why England will never succeed... they are all individuals and not a team.

Thats right flight. People are relying on individuals but should worry on how to play together and play good football.

Robinho is not overrated he has just not been able to prove how good he is because Real is so screwed up right now.

I put in a thread a while ago asking was Rooney overrated and some of yousaid no ,but not quite as polite as that. Now look whats happening, even Steve McClaren agrees. Against Isreal he was a disgrace and by far the worst player on the pitch, and a pitch containing Phil Neville at that! The press make me laugh with all the "why cant he bring his club form onto the pitch?" .
And there goes the problem HE IS.
