Well, I would like to see the opinions of technology on our society. Has it effected us in a positive way or has it effected us in somewhat a negative way. Also what do you think our technology will be like in the future. Do not limit yourselves to what we have now, be imaginative, because you never know... it may be possible. As for my thoughts, I think that technology has helped us on our path as a civilization. We are able to make our lives easier and help people live longer. We are also to save people from death when 200 years ago, it would not be possible. However, with the good comes the bad. I also think technology has had a negative effect on us. As I look around I see that many people are becoming much lazier, myself included. I have a remote for everything in my room, I can flip the lights on with my remote, control my TV, stereo, DVD player. For my lights I usually get up to turn them on, because I do not just want to sit and be lazy. Luckily I have stairs in my house so I can get exercise by running up and down them all the time. I hardly ever go outside because the activities do not appeal to me as much. Most of my friends have either moved off to different colleges or are working so I do not have that outside time I used to have with them. But it's not only with me, it's with many of the children today. Rarely do I see a child playing in the street or in their driveways. This is one of the negative effects of our technology. Another effect is that many jobs have been lost due to robots that can do 5 times the work a human can do in 1 day. For the future of technology, I think we will be able to travel to the deepest depths of the universe using a fuel that is so powerful it can actually defy gravity. I also think that we will be cybernetic meaning that we have computer chips placed inside our bodies. Actually this is already taking place. A blind man that used to have sight recently had nano chips implanted into his retinas, now he is able to see. Scientists are saying that this will lead to us being able to view television and the Internet within our own eyes. I also think we will be able to control anything without the push of a button as it will be controlled by our thought processes. Lastly I think a technology will be created that will be able to transport us. It will consist of a very powerful computer that will be able to scan and hold our molecular build and have a ray disassemble us and reassemble us in a different location. Sounds very far out, but most of the things we have seen in Star Trek is already here. So if you will share your ideas. But Please, NO FLAMING. As you can see most of my serious threads are discussion based and I make them to where there are no right or wrong answers, just opinions, so please respect other posters' opinions and they will respect yours.
Technology has brought us the most beautiful gift ever known to man kind. Free porn. Aside from that, technology is mostly a pandora's box, everytime we fix a problem, a new one pops up. Further driving the need to create more technology. This is good though, because if we don't advance our civilization may be doomed to die out when our sun does, or when life on this planet does. So for now, it's a race against time, and we don't know how much time we have.
