In the light of Liverpool moving to a bigger stadium and also being promised more money to spend and compete with Chelsea and United for the bigger signings, do you think they will be able to keep up? They are gonna get left behind this season with CL money from the other 3 and also don't have they international fanbase of Liverpool and United or Chelsea's sugardaddy so will this mean they will have to do with being top of the "other" league with Everton ,Spurs etc. What do you think

I doubt it. I heard Arsene has been given ?50m, but I doubt it. Anyway. Our 60,000 stadium will make more money than your new one. Have you seen how much arsenal charge. Christ.

Considering Arsene is too busy browsing high schools for players, I think they will be left behind. Arsenal don't have as much big name players as they used to have, Bergkamp, Viera, Campbell, Pires, Seaman blah blah. If Arsenal want to mount a serious championship challenge in all competitions, they need to spend big.

Edit: To Lozia post... how are Arsenal going to fill their stadium if they don't mount a challenge. This year they are a joke team.

I think they will start to challenge more in a couple of years once their younger players are more experienced.

Gate receipts are just a drop in the ocean when it comes to money coming in. Its all about shirt selling and advertising and as much as it may hurt ,Arsenal aren't in the same league as Liverpool and United to a larger extent when it comes to being a "brand" as such. Its ok having all these kids as you like to say but mark my words only 1 or 2 will come out of them when they mature. Arsends last few "big" signings haven't exactly lit up the place (Reyes, Hleb) have they?
This isn't a my dad's bigger than your dad thing before you start as well its a perfectly genuine question.

By the way Liverpool have been given a 40M transfer budget but the board have said he can make as many big signings as he wants. e.g Villa, Eto'o

Liverpool and United are without a doubt the two biggest clubs in England, with Liverpools planned stadium and increased budget, big name players will be attracted to them. Arsenal keep bringing in unknown youngsters who will come of age in 2-3-4-5 years time, while Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea will being players in who will do the job to win trophies. United set the premiership record attendance AGAIN when they played Blackburn. God knows who The big 3 will bring in during the summer, but if Arsenal want to make themselves known, they need to spend.

I know its says £40 mil but I think thats just a figure pulled out of the air by reporters. You can bet if Rafa wants a player they will go out and get him no matter what price (unless its completely stupid money al la Chelsea). He's also been quoted as saying that he can make whatever improvements he wants and they will back him financially. Well I'm off now to watch Liverpool , (are Arsenal not on tonight?)

A huge chunk of that ?40m is being spent on Alonso I believe to keep him at the club.

To flight643. Believe me, they can fill that stadium. It is unbelievably hard to get tickets to watch arsenal play. I finally got some tickets for this weekends match, but its taken me over 2 1/2 years.

I think Liverpool can afford to let Alonso go, he's nothing special. I think they just need to get a solid right winger (Joaquin perhaps) so Gerrard and Mascherano/Sissoko can hold the midfield. Alonso has been average this season imo.

When you think about it. £40m ain't that much. I mean Eto'o or Villa or even torres (although he said he would only mover to Arsenal) would cost at least £30m depending on the length of the contract remaing at their resptive clubs.

Like I said the £40m is just a figure plucked out of the air by reporters. Alonso average? You haven't seen Carrick play if you want average!

Carrick is starting to blend in with the team, I just think that after a good season last year from Alonso, he's not been his top self.

It makes me laugh when i see some of the figures banded about. 50mil ffs. I can just see David Dein saying in font of everyone ,here Arsend theres a few quid go and buy someone decent. It doesn't happen like that ,if it was don't you think anyone selling would inflate the price like they do for Chelsea?
