Today Man Utd lost to Portsmouth 2-1. A mixture of mistakes from VDS, good saves from David James and a dodgy own goal from Rio Ferdinand gave Portsmouth the victory. Even the mighty John O'Shea couldn't win the game for Man Utd with a goal in the 90th minute. Their could be many reasons for this result. Man Utd fan's favourite is that the team was tired and concentrated on Europe, which is true when you look at the teamsheet. However, in all honesty they can't afford to gamble away the Premiership in case of European glory. The real reason perhaps lies in the time of kick off. Today the match was a late kick off with Chelsea playing in the early kick off. Could the fragile minds in Man Utd's players not take the pressure after seeing Chelsea close the gap? Especially after losing to Roma in a real cauldron of a stadium. I think pressure is to blame for the defeat to Portsmouth. Well, that and one Kieran Richardson. Man Utd are still 3 whole points ahead of Chelsea but they've still got to go to Stamford Bridge, will we see a crazy turn of events at the top?
No we won't, Utd have lost against West Ham and Arsenal (twice) before this season, everyone wrote them off and we've stayed in the race. Why would we capitulate now, yeah we lost in Rome, but I think we have an advantage in the tie after our away goal. Also we are virtually an extra point ahead of Chelsea because of our far superior goal difference, So no we won't see a crazy turn of events at the top, its just a minor blip!!
I think that the fact that for once Chelsea played first and the Roma effect all played a part in the loss. Add to that the injured defenders and United are now under pressure. It will not get easier for them and Chelsea will now feel a tremendous morale boost and they can see their prey and smell its fear.
They'll still wrap the title up in my opinion but I aint going to say they definetly will until the Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge..
Everyone is saying that Chelsea will beat us at Stamford Bridge but i am confidnent we can get a draw or even win.
