<div class="quote_poster">lilguy1991 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">No I like rock it's just that to me these bands don't sound like rock. It's not because there sound is soft or anything(Neil Young and some Beatles songs were soft and I like those) it's just that they don't sound like rock to me. The only band IMO that has sounded like rock recently is Wolfmother.</div>

Wolfmother, great fun as they are, are just re-treading, step-for-step, every known 70s rock band. I love them but they don't exactly trample down musical barriers.

Oasis are more indie than anything else but you seem to put too much stock in what bands are labelled as. If you want some good, storming, riff-based, hard-edged rock, check out the following:

    Clutch
    Death From Above 1979
    Corrosion of Conformity
    The Datsuns
    Spiritual Beggars
    Alabama Thunderpussy
    Five Horse Johnson

    And for some cheese rock:

Satanicide (AC/DC-sounding stuff. Do an incredible cover of that song from Titanic)
The Mooney Suzuki (Just general cheese rock. Great fun live too)
Fozzy (Fronted by WWE Superstar Chris Jericho and are an awesome band. Nice guys in person too)

Really, there is some incredible harder rock music with more emphasis on the classic rock emphasis of music and fun over whiney love crap like Coldplay etc out there. You just have to dig deeper than the charts.

They're considered more Britrock. It's more chilled and less Hardcoreish[IMG]

    Mmm, bit like Arctic Monkeys.

But, Wolfmother. They're Aussie. That's why they're hardcore.

Check out the latest Carnal Forge album, Testify For My Victims. It's absolute gold from start to finish.

    Full-on, breakneck-speed, screamy-shouty thrash/death metal.

Also the new Machine Head album. Probably my Album of 2007 already, that one.
