..,but I'm going crazy watching Dennis Green and others get away. mercurynews.com Posted on Tue, Jan. 13, 2004 WHAT'S THE RUSH? NFL teams typically fill their head-coaching vacancies in January, but not the Raiders. February, or even March, has been the month for Al Davis. I would have to say that this was kind of a big surprise coming out of Dallas seeing you interview two of our offensive coaches. Payton has interviewed -- not sure if Carthon has. I know Al Davis gets along well with both Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells and that all three have respect for each other, but this surprises me. I guess it fits Davis's pattern of hiring coaches that have no HC experience (except Bugel?), but I would have expected that our DC Zimmer would have been the first to be picked for an interview by a team. I'm not complaining, but Zimmer is not being talked about in head coaching circles ... maybe Nebraska, but not NFL.... and it is our gain and their loss. From what I read and hear, he would make a good head coach in this league.
