<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chris Coleman has been sacked as Fulham manager and replaced by Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez in a caretaker role.

Seven games without a win has seen Fulham drop to 15th place in the Premiership, only four points above the relegation zone, and the Welshman who has been manager at the club since April 2003 had been the subject of increasing discontent from Fulham's fans.

Fulham lost twice over the Easter weekend - 4-1 at Everton and 3-1 at home to Manchester City - and the pressure final took its toll as the club announced Coleman's departure on its website late on Tuesday saying there was no alternative but "to part company".

Coleman's assistant Steve Kean will also be replaced with immediate effect and the club said that they had agreed terms with the Irish FA for Sanchez to take control of team affairs until the end of the season.

The statement from the club said: "Chris Coleman has provided a fantastic service during his ten years at the club and it is disappointing that the club has no alternative but to part company.

"As a team and organisation Fulham Football Club has goals to attain and success to achieve and by no means can this be compromised."

Coleman's four year managerial reign at Fulham saw him take charge in 176 matches, of which he won 61, drew 44 but lost 71.

Fulham have won only seven of 33 matches in the Premiership this season and face both Arsenal and Liverpool in their remaining five matches of the campaign, which continues at Reading on Saturday.</div>

Big surprise when i woke up this morning and saw it. I did not see any point in him being sacked.

Fulham would be mid-table Championship fodder if it weren;t for Coleman over the years. Shocking loyalty problems at the bottom clubs.

All the best to Lawrie Sanchez, he has done wonders for NI since he arrived and hopefully will continue to do so!

I imagine the Fulham board were becoming concerned about their closeness to the relegation zone. The sacking of Coleman is more than likely just a safeguard to prevent being relegated by injecting some fresh moral/style via Lawrie Sanchez.

Coleman did nothing for Fulham anyway, hardly dynamic was he?

I liked Coleman tbh' he always came across as honest and to keep Fulham in the league with all the cash restrictions he's had is nothing short of a miracle. He's virtually done the job with BOTH arms tied behind his back becaues of the miss-management of the previous bosses.
All i can say is good luck Chris in whatever he does in the future(unless he manages Everton)

Surely sacking Coleman with 5 games left is going to disgruntle the team? Maybe we'll see in the Fulham performances. I think they should've kept him there until the end of the season, and then got rid of him.

Yeah Reading were all of them in the first half but the second half was all Fulham. I thought they were pretty unlucky to not get a point.
