Considering how well carrick is playing, perhaps the money could be better spent bringing in another striker? I mean, it would be such a waste to leave carrick on the bench if they do buy hargreaves.
OK so the general view is that buying hargreaves is kinda pointless and they should invest in a striker. Who do you think they should buy? United lack a poacher, so torres would be a good investment. They should bring in someone young as well. Hunterlaar was mentioned in another thread and i agree with that too.

I doubt you'd get Torres, he is happy at Athletico Madrid, and I remember reading something about how he doesn't care how much money he's offered because he's playing at the club he supports or something? I may be wrong but i'm sure I read it somewhere. I don't think you need Hargreaves though, you've got an excellent midfield as it is. I think maybe you should look for a young winger for when Giggs retires, just as a good investment. I don't know if Man Utd have already covered this or not, but just something that popped into my head.
for a poacher someone like viduka, he does really wel at boro and me thinks if he got the chance at a better team hed do even better
Viduka's fat and lazy. Also has a massive wage packet. Not endearing qualities. Spawny: Manchester United deal-makers have apparently been chasing Nani from Sporting Lisbon all season. I know Tottenham, Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool are after him too but United have the best relationship with them and can get better access etc. As for strikers, I'd love Huntelaar to come to Old Trafford. He's such a class player. I've heard major rumblings of Jermaine Defoe arriving in the summer on the cheap. I've always wanted Defoe at United even since his West Ham youth days. He's an excellent poacher and is proven in the English game. Also rumours of Michael Owen to Old Trafford but we already have one horribly injury-prone striker in Louis Saha and don't want or need another.
erm yes they do need Hargreaves, he needs to command the cenral midefild possion, because since keane left, they are lacking in there, and i doubt carrick and scolhes can do it.
