Manchester United are planning a sensational move for Newcastle striker Michael Owen. Sir Alex Ferguson has focused his search for a striker on Newcastle's 27-year-old England star, who has a ?12million release clause in his contract. Owen has been out with a serious knee injury since last summer's World Cup finals but scored in a friendly game against Gretna last week. A well-placed United source told us: "It is no secret that Sir Alex wants another striker and he is bound to be attracted by someone of Owen's pedigree at such a competitive price. Naturally we would have to be certain he has recovered from his injury and that is why his return will be closely monitored. "Ideally we want to see him in action for several games between now and the end of the season."

ok guys this is what i'm gonna say once and only once, don't belive everything the papers say, it said over three years ago chelsea's new sponsers were gonna be orange, but it turned out to be samsung mobiles.
i think owen if the reports are true would do well at man u in fitness and goals, he is a pretty good poacher and as theres another topic about man u needing a goal poacher i think ower would be a good candidate. and old trafford have better medical facilities and i think owen would get less injuries at man u. also i think hed be money better spent than hargreaves
Owen would never go to Man Utd, this makes me laugh. He hasnt settled in anywhere recently so i think if he would go anywhere he would come back to the kop.
Well, I do hope that it is of Owen Hargreaves... We Newcastle fans have been anticipating his return!
