What are the things that an individual in the normal day-by-day state of The Grind should fear? Here is a completely UN-comprehensive list of some severe issues that plague our society, if we can call it that.

    1. The Poles. Hmm? What poles, right? Well, by 2012, the magnetic poles will have at least partially switched. Not a big deal for us, because it just requires some recalibration of mechanical equipment. Animals, however, will go extinct by the millions as the magnetic system that they unconsciously use for migration and navigation spins out of control. We're at the top of the food chain; what happens when you saw away at the bottom? We all topple into the same oblivion.

Reason one was the experiment; the other 4 the controls (read my post on page 2 if you'd like). Feel free to discuss 2-5, as they are valid threats.

    2. The Pandemic. The Bird Flu will kill billions once a single bird hits a moderate-traffic port. This is no joke; the question is not whether or not humanity will die of a virus, but when. Super-resistant strains of HIV and Hepatitis are already brooding because of our capitalist treatment approach that leaves the demand high and forces the virus to constantly evolve and improve. Anthrax is only a man-made beginning... nature is much more effective.

    3. The Flood. Not religious, this one's the one caused by that obscure term that everyone wants to ignore: global warming. Within the next century, the Artic ice caps will melt, causing a gigantic influx of fresh water into the North Atlantic Current, halting it and both creating a new ice age for Europe and causing water levels to rise an average of 13 feet. Mexico will be the new place to be, because the rest of the earth will be a giant sheet of ice.

    4. The Holocaust. Completely exaggerated, of course, the Nuclear Holocaust is still a severe issue because of the human desire for more. Takers will always keep taking until they push each other too far. Then, what's left of humanity will be living in caves underground for the next dozen centuries or so as the radioactive fires in the atmosphere slowly die out. Of course, this is just one version of the Meteor Hypothesis, which concludes that we'll all die by a giant rock that first blots out the sun and then us.

    5. The Absurdity. We are currently in a shift of belief systems. Once, we were animals like the primates. Now, we consider ourselves more. But philosophy steers us into the realization that such delusions are only that; we are, in fact, nothing more than highly-developed processors. Apathy already grips a large percentage of the population, and this number can only be expected to grow as this disturbing truth seeps further into the foundations of our society.

Please, discuss, though it makes no difference. [IMG]

    1. Wow i've never heard of this before. Why hasn't it been brought up before in the news?

    2. Once again never heard this one either. I've heard of bird flu but not of it killing a ton of birds.

    3. Global Warming. I honestly think that global warming is greatly exaturated.

    4. This is probably going to happen over the course of a couple of centuries. This is inevitable. Man was always self destructive by nature anyways.

    5. There will always be great thinkers and apathetic morons of the world. It's always been around in every generation. I just think it's funny to see the public stupidity of people.

Global Warming is natural. 500 years ago we went through a mini ice age. 350 years ago we went through a long drout. Its all natural for the earth IMO

people are saying global warmings bad like the water is going to hit us all at once, but as was said its just natures process, we just sped it up as is all. and im sure the water isnt going to instantly cover countires as the ocean is huge so me thinks that the water isnt going to rise as much as they think. also ice is larger than water, if you freeze a full bottle of lets say cordial, the frozen cordial forces its way out of the top and breaks the bottle so i think amount of water is going to be less than expected
