I watched part of the Copa Del Ray tie between Deportivo La Coruna and Seville last night and was impressed by Alves, particulary going forward

I think, if he came to Liverpool, we could play him as a permanent right winger and with Steve Finnan behind him he'd have licence to get forward at every opportunity

Last night his assist for one of the goals was brilliant, he cut inside and played a killer through ball which was asking to be smashed in, also his set piece and shooting ability looked a real threat

What with Gerrard, Agger, Alonso, Garcia and inparticular Riise who can all hit them from 30+ yards I think Alves would fit into our team well...

Iam not to sure about his defensive ability as a right back as he got caught a couple of times and Ive heard on other threads hes not the best but if he was to become a liverpool player I think Benitez would mould him into a winger rather than a right back

Another thing Iam not sure about is his diving... he seems to go down at the slightest, and sometimes no contact, which is something Iam sure he'd be told not to do if he came to our club

I think this guy can do a great job down the right for many years if we land him in the summer, lets hope Rafa splashes out on him

...get ready for 'gerrard's a diver'
