Just a few randoms from my collection:

AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie (Classic riffery and storming rock)
Beck - Novacane (Just a superb big-beat track from the veteran)
Cansei De Ser Sexy - Alala (Filthy bassline and a great beat)
Cave-In - Anchor (Soaring rock song)
Clutch - Open Up The Borders (A riff the size of Russia)
Cream - Sunshine of Your Love (One of the greatest riffs of all time)
Chris Isaak - Wicked Game (One of the best uses of the guitar I've ever heard)
Death From Above 1979 - Turn It Out (Storming, relentless, distorted punk rock-style track)
Dilated Peoples - Kindness For Weakness (I bloody love Dilated Peoples)
Dangermouse & Gemini - Ghetto Pop Life (Great hip hop track from before Dangermouse got big with Gnarls Barkley)
The Eagles - Hotel California (Classic)
Flower Travellin' Band - Louisiana Blues (forget the name. Japanese band with serious 70s influence)
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly - War of The Worlds (Superb acoustic music)
Gorillaz - All Alone (features my favourite UK Rapper, Roots Manuva)
Iggy Pop - The Passenger (One of the stand out tracks from one of the best albums I've ever heard)
Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe (Need I say anything?)
Kings of Leon - Four Kicks (Storming southern rock from the hicks)
The Kinks - All Day And All Of The Night (Most under-rated British band ever)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird (Classic rock track)
The Jam - A Town Called Malice (Classic punk track)
New Young Pony Club - Ice Cream (Catchy as fuck and just a good fun song)
Oasis - Gas Panic (My favourite Oasis track)
Paul Weller - The Changingman (The legend)
Rory Gallagher - Bad Penny (Blues rock legend)
Roy Buchanan - Green Onions (Now you know who performed this track)
Scratch Perverts - Stand By (From that Lucozade advert. Great track)
Spirit Caravan - Black Flower (Groove-based rock)
Spiritual Beggars - Angel of Betrayal (Massive riffery)
Taste - What's Going On (Rory Gallagher's band. Actually turned down forming The Rolling Stones with Mick Jagger to be in this band)
The Hold Steady - Stuck Between Stations (Cinematic rock)
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - American Girl (One of the finest songwriters America ever produced)
Tracy Chapman - Talkin' 'Bout A Revolution (One of the others!)
We Are Scientists - Nobody Move, Nobody Gets Hurt (Under-rated indie band)
Wolfmother - Colossal (Another massive riff)

    That should get you started
