Listening to Everton vs Man Utd on Five Live. Commentator just said Everton stand to gain half a million pounds if Manchester United win the Premiership. Why is that?

Performance-related clauses. Usually last for about 5 years and then expire. Most of the money from ?12m upwards for Carrick was made up of clauses like that. One of them was if United win the European Cup, Tottenham get ?3m (I think it was 3). To be honest, if we win the European Cup, ?3m is fuck all. Carrick has really done the biz this year in the middle.
