The best manager in the world atm has to be rafa benitez. the way he brought about barcas and chelsea's defeat was brilliant, especially since he has strikers like crouch to work with

He's not even close to being considered a world class manager until he wins the domestic league and Liverpool will not do that for a long time yet.

People need to calm down then. He's not proved anything. he hasn;t won a league yet. When he wins a league, then people can talk about him in that sense. Until then, he's not the greatest manager in the world.

lol he is a great manager, i agree he is yet to be a "world class" manager but it needs time like a said next season we will be closer season after that who knows?

all depends on how consistent we are and what players we bring in

It's right what Soilborn said but I hope you're right Kopite. It'd be really good for the English game to see another title contender.

As for Benitez, he's got his squad wired up for tournament play. He can do the sprint, but he needs to get his squad to run the marathon.

Liverpool will still be a few years away from challenging.

In the near future, the only way Liverpool will challenge for the title is if Chelsea drop off because of a change of manager/owner and for Man Utd because of retirements or just failing.

Call me crazy, but I see Arsenal coming back to power within a couple of years. It'd be awesome to see all FOUR teams up there slugging it out.

That'd be great football to watch, more teams challenging means even more meaningful matches towards the end of the season.

Arsenal could challenge again in a couple of years, except I feel like they need to make one big signing of a quality player either this summer or in January next season.

Up until next season Liverpool have Rafa hasn't had £20 mil to spew on 1 player. All that could be about to change. The likes of Man Ure and Ch£ls£a have. They can go out and blow that much and then spend another £8/9 mil on a back up. He's not been able to do that. Our biggest signing was Cisse and he didn't actually buy him. His biggest buys have been Alonso £10mil and Kuyt £10 mil and both of them have been a major success. Just think if his spending power does increase and he can challenge for the likes of David Villa etc. Then we will only get better. Even Arsenal have spent more and "fringe" and youth players and he's overtook them now. So hopefully when he has a bigger wallet he will do what he did in Spain and bring the title back to its rightful place.

If you saw Kuyt week in week out you would realise what a fantastic player he is. As was said in a previous thread what you see in the flesh compared to a 32" telly is completely different. Another thing in Liverpools favour is that teams that win the league are usually ugly as fuck so we're right up there with the best of em now!
