Amidst all the drivel spouted by Jose Mourinho in the last couple of weeks I have to say that he was probably right right in what he was saying about Liverpool being able to concentrate on the Champions League whilst Chelsea were still contesting the Premiership title. At Portsmouth last Saturday we could afford to rest 7 players in what was nothing more than a friendly for us. The question is, is it possible to be involved in a close race for the title and still perform at your best in the CL at the same time. If we are in contention for the title next April would we be able to cope with the demands of both? For the 3rd year running we have an English side in the final but on none of those occasions have that side been challenging for the title at the end of the season. None of this should however take anything away from our achievement of reaching another CL final.
I think he was trying to back it up because he got put out of the CL by Liverpool. He is trying to make the Chelsea fans happy by saying well We are focusing on the Premiership but you could tell that he wasnt. His team played good against Liverpool both legs and it took penalties to put them out not taking anything away from Liverpool but im happy that Chelsea didnt go into the final
well trying for premiership really doesnt help, if not the chelsea example, look at man u. they did not look sharp like they usually do and looked quite tired, i think the strains of performing in the prem does effect the performance in cl
Chelsea rested 6 players for their Bolton clash. So what was the difference apart from Chelsea's squad cost a hell of a lot more. The fellas a dickhead. Him and Ferguson are just making excuses for losing to better teams on the day.
