Generally i dont think so. van basten for example. But on the odd occaision there is a special one, like rijkaard.
You've got to be a certain type of player with a certain mentality and footballing brain. I find the aggressive midfielders who could pass well always make the better managers. They see the game better than your average defender or winger and also have a very determined mentality along with respect from their players. I'm mainly using Roy Keane as an example here.

players make good managers, well every manager is a former player, like jose and wenegr, and fergie and others..
I think the more infulentual players i.e Roy Keane make great managers because people know not to mess around cause its the wrong thing to do and the players know they wont have none of it.
