Bruce Buck has stated that Chelsea are no longer going to be spending huge fees on new players, and to me, that means that any new signings are going to need to be offset by sales, or be free transfers. Given that very simple restriction, who needs to come in, and who needs to go out to offset? Can Chelsea sell players for what they will need to pay to bring new players in? Should Chelsea mostly stand pat and promote the younger players coming through and accept a season where a PL Championship might be out of reach?
There is one player i know who could be on a free transfer this sumer who would be a great addition to any club. Barcelona's Saviola
Chelsea will do what they need to do to achieve their objectives. This doesn't necessarily mean a great spend in the close season. They have a very good first team squad as it stands plus a good number of very promising youngsters. There may be a need to offload a few (Ferreira, Boulahrouz,Geremi) but a good right back and a top draw striker is all we need to take on the big challenge next year.
Saviola would be a smart move for chelsea, the problem chelsea will have is when they go to buy players other clubs know they have the money and will try and charge the highest price possible, budget buying won't be as easy for chelsea as it would be for other teams.
Yeah.. but I doubt it well I guess you never know, Shevchenko was rated the top 5 strikers in the world before he went to Stamford Bridge.
You gotta give Shevchenko time to adapt. Look at Drogba, it took him nearly 2 years to adapt into the English game. And look at him now, hes one of the top strikers in the world. Chelsea also got another young hot prospect in the strikers department anyway. Ben Sahar.
Saviola is a big target for Arsenal. Such a good player and i hope we get him. Plus seeing as he's free we should get Ribery as well
Ermm Max, I think Savoila has signed a contract with Madrid.. well thats what the reports say. Also if he does not go to Madrid, he expressed his interest in Inter and Juve

Have you forgotten your excuse for the 2-0 and 1-0 against Liverpool already?
I think we should give some youth players a go to be honest, Scott Sinclair and Ben Sahar look promising, and need experience in the top flight. I thought Sinclair looked quite good against Man Utd in the Premiership, although I agree it was like a reserve game, you can't say the Man Utd team wasn't a good team. Sahar looks good as well. I think we need a good, strong centre back with good leadership skills like John Terry, because, well, everyone saw what happened when Terry was injured. The defence was abysmal, and I think a new right back is in order, a good, consistant one. Ferreira has been unimpressive to say the least, and Geremi has done ok there as has Diarra, but they aren't defenders. I don't think we need any more midfielders. I'll give Ballack and Shevchenko one more season to sort it out, if not then get rid of em ... eating up our wage budget! I wouldn't mind seeing Saviola at the Bridge though
Well, Im also dreamin of Saviola going to Arsenal, hes just a great player, the only thing that worrys me is that he is too skinny...he might get hurt easily in the premiership and we sure cannot afford anymore injuries. Ribery would be awesome signing.
The bargins are certainly out there. Just look at Benni Mccarthy this season for the Rovers. More goals than Berbatov (league and total) and at a 1/4 of the price. (think it was 2.5 m , around that figure anyway) I like the sound of Saviola on a free, but then again who wouldnt
<div class="quote_poster">Lennon 18 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Chelsea dont need much more players anyway maybe one or two for defensive purposes.</div> I agree with that, they dont really need to add anything to their offense, probably a healthy Cashley and sign one really good defender should do it for them....giving gallas away for cashley really hurt them.
