Wenger's Arsenal has always been hailed as a ambassador of the beautiful game. While not always effective, Arsenal, over the last few seasons have played some of the scintillating and breath-taking football EVER! However, the playing field has changed. Back in the late 90's, both SAF and Wenger believed in grooming young teams, and SAF only made ocassional 'big money' purchases once every two/three years, which would be compensated by the experience gained by AW's young gunners by that time. Arsene Wenger has never been the type of manager who would go out and buy a 30M pound final product, something which rival managers (Mourinho, AF and now after the takeover, possibly Rafa) are willing to do. With a big new stadium, and a very strong possibility that big money is actually available, will this policy of 'let young players grow and lets see what happens in 5 years time' bring in enough trophies? 1) We all want good football AND trophies, but, has AW got the balance right or is he a touch too favored towards the beautiful game? 2) Money is possibly available... is it fair that club Arsenal should miss out on trophies because of the manager's "I can create the cheapest league-winning team" attitude? 3) There is already a very talented group of football players available; AW is one-dimensional, pass-move-pass-move; do you think that a different manager, willing to mix it up, willing to spend money, is capable of doing a better job? 4) Most importantly, would you guys like AW to adapt to the changes, or are you guys happy with the current pattern of things where a whole batch of players are given a long time to develop, or would you prefer a shorter (less spectacular or rewarding) route to success?
I think if AW were given the money he'd buy some big players right now E.G. Torres, Van Der Vaart and Ribery. But he hasn't got the funding of the other 'top 4' so he has to spend his cash wisely on future greats e.g. Van Persie, Fabregas and Walcott
What Arsenal needs are EXPERIENCED players in areas of the pitch because they have talented players and they need a striker who would just poach the goals and finish things off like Owen. When Viera, Pires and Campbell left I think u guys have suffered. Because if Henry is injured, who could look after the young players? And u just have to stop passing 10 times in the box and just shoot the ball alright? Although u guys play wit flare and style u guys do too much and there is no finish at the end which is fustrating to watch.
When fergi braught his kids thru the ranks & into the 1st team..he also had experiance wich was a good balance.. experiance such as; bruce, pally, irwin, kanzhelskis, the king cantonar, hughes, mcclair. this seson what experianced players have arsenal had in their side?.. lehman (nutter), lljberg (injury plauged) and im struggling to think of any others. arsenal IMO have also lacked the quality of a big summer signin.. baptista and gallas was about it. and gallas has bin injuryd and baptista only scored in the carling cup
