Why do people think Rafa is going to go out and buy 3 or 4 ?20m+ players? Rafa is all about the team. Previously he wanted to buy an attacking right mid, Simoa then Alves slipped through his grasp, then perhaps his 3rd or 4th option Pennant (who incidentally has done well enough to keep in the sqaud, in my opinion) was purchased as a last ditch make do. Rafa is not complaining about the money he has been given at Liverpool, rather the fact that when key opportunities have arisen in the past, he was ultimately thwarted for want of ?2 or ?3 extra mil in the coffers. Now he plans to go for his FIRST choice players. That doesn?t necessarily mean ?35m Villa?s, etc. (although I do think he will break our record for a striker) but rather going for players that perhaps nobody had even considered, and getting them by meeting their clubs valuation. This is most certainly NOT parallel to the expenditure of Chelsea FC or even that of Manu, and just like Sir Alex, Rafa has actually earned much of this rumoured kitty through his own results, namely in the Champions League where he has brought home a absolute minimum of ?40m - ?50m+ worth of prise money.
He certainly needs a striker. And maybe a class left-sided midfielder or winger cuz Kewell is injury prone. Zenden is not really an out-to-out winger and Gonzalez can't adapt into the Premiership. Maybe another right sided midfielder would help also.
Well Gonzalez is gone and looks like Rafa is keen to let Bolo go too. We do need a classy left winger and a great striker. Maybe a decent right winger too to back up Pennant/Gerrard.
Well with Bellamy returning to Rovers (hehe) he will certainly need to splash out on a fwd. Saying that though, i think Crouch is so underused and in my opinion, he is key to Englands success. Henry for Liverpool??? ......discuss.
Rafa is going to have the full backing from the new owners, so i cannot see why liverpool carn't go for world class players!, considering we will have the money with zenden, gonzalez and fowler going, we will need to get better replacements in! I'd personally be happy if we went for simao again this would be my dream summer transfer targets: <u>In</u> Personally all i think we need is another goalkeeper and 1 or 2 world class strikers, we have an amazing defense and midfield, we just need clinical strikers! Rafa will make two big signings in my opinion. As Barce might bring Dos Santos to the main squad we could see the loss of Eto'o. Alonso + 10M for Eto'o anyone?
